Andy graduated from Nottingham University Medical school in 1997 and did his Medical oncology training in New Zealand and Yorkshire. He completed an MD at Leeds University in 2009 and became a consultant at York Teaching Hospitals NHS trust and an honorary lecturer at Hull/York Medical School in 2010. Andy has spent the last 14 years treating breast and gynaecological cancers in York and North Yorkshire. He is a member of the UK breast cancer group (UKBCG) and chairman of the Yorkshire breast cancer tri-network oncology group. He has been the clinical lead for oncology in York since January 2020.
He created and led the acute oncology and MUO services in York and still leads the acute services in York and Scarborough. The York breast team diagnose around 700 new breast cancers each year. The York breast oncology team have a prevalent population of metastatic breast cancer of around 300 patients. Andy is committed to clinical research and has run numerous breast cancer trials since 2010.
